DEMOCRACY

In North America

This blog last edited: August 26, 2014

I'm starting this blog, because thanks to social media and other media outlets, I have come to realize that a lot of North American governments, at all three levels, are not following democratic procedures.

Democracy, as defined by Webster's Dictionary, is this:

e·moc·ra·cy

 noun \di-ˈmä-krə-sē\
: a form of government in which people choose leaders by voting
: a country ruled by democracy
: an organization or situation in which everyone is treated equally and has equal rights
plural de·moc·ra·cies

Full Definition of DEMOCRACY

1
a :  government by the people; especially :  rule of the majority
b :  a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
2
:  a political unit that has a democratic government
3
capitalized :  the principles and policies of the Democratic party in the United States <from emancipation Republicanism to New Deal Democracy — C. M. Roberts>
4
:  the common people especially when constituting the source of political authority
5
:  the absence of hereditary or arbitrary class distinctions or privileges

North America IS a legally recognized Democratic Continent so....

There fore, any government, be it municipal, provincial/state/federal, who does not follow the democratic process in North America, is involved in illegal activity.

I think the the Canadian Constitution includes the right to enjoyment of private property, the right to water, shelter, and access to food.   And the right to freedom of speech is in it some place.

This constitution needs to be changed to include the 'right to live in a clean environmentbecause certain politicians have taken that right away from some people in favor of big bully oil and gas.
